I’ve been PIED and other RANDOMNESS!

Hi Friends!  Wow!  It’s been awhile.  I feel like I have been neglecting our poor blog, but hopefully this post will explain why.  This is going to be a long one, so please stay with me.  Since testing is complete (AMEN!), we have been doing a lot of fun activities.
A few weeks ago my school had a walk-a-thon.  It was fantastic!  The money raised went toward new technology for our school.  There were prizes for students who raised the most money.  One sweetie in my class was the top winner.  She got to throw a pie in my face. (I did volunteer for this!)  This was the first time I had ever done something like this.  It was hilarious!

Although, it’s the end of a great year, we are still learning up to the very last day.  We have been loving some end of the year writing activities from Hope King over at Second Grade Shenanigans.  Seriously folks, if you don’t own this pack, stop what you’re doing and go get it!

We will be working on the paper bag memory books next week.
In math, we have been studying multiplication.  My kids are loving the craftivities from Amy Lemon’s Marvelous Multiplication Unit.  Great stuff!

My students made mushrooms and came up with multiplication sentences to go with them.  We also made some cool bracelets out of pipe cleaner and beads while making sure to write multiplication and repeated addition sentences to go with them.  All from Amy Lemons!  She is thebomb.com! :)

I’ve seen balloon popping activities on Pinterest and many teacher blogs.  I decided to give it a try.  We have been popping a balloon for each day of school that we have left.  Each balloon has a special activity inside of it.

These are the activities we’ve done so far:
10 minutes of extra recess
Sidewalk chalk and bubbles
Spelling Bee and bubble gum
The students have been loving these activities.  It’s a great behavior incentive and something to look forward to each day.  I think I might be more excited than my kiddos.
Finally I so enjoy working with my teaching partner, that I gave her an end of the year gift a few days early.  I got this idea from my sweet friend Melissa over at Jungle Learners.  One of her friends made something like this for her.  I thought it was so cute that I had to make it.  Thanks Melissa for the idea!

Everything in this little basket is yellow from Lemonheads to Mascara.  It’s ALL things YELLOW! Judging by the smile on her face, it was a big hit!
Finally, if school is still in session for you and you’re looking for some end of the year gifts for your students, head on over to our TpT store to pick up this freebie.  It has three DIY gifts that your students won’t stop talking about.

Whew!  That was mouthful!  Thanks for hanging in there with me.  Field Day is tomorrow so I better go rest up.
5 days and counting down,
Mrs. Holland
