Introducing Planet 116!

Hi Everyone!  I hope you are enjoying your weekend.  I have been MIA because school started for me last Wednesday.  Please forgive me.  It has been a great start but I am EXHAUSTED y’all!  I’m trying to get back into the swing of things.  Even though last week was crazy busy, I still managed to take a few pics of my new classroom.  I decided to do my classroom tour in parts, so today’s post will be Part 1.  Before I get started, I know many of you have been waiting to see my spaceship.  It is still a work in progress.  I will definitely show pictures when it’s all finished.  My teaching partners and I decided to do an UNVEILING in a few weeks.

When you arrive at the entrance of my classroom, you will see this.  My students and parents love to see this picture of when I was in second grade.

On the door, you will see a “Where is Everybody?” sign.  This tells a visitor where we are if we are not in the classroom.  I have signs with a velcro back for easy sticking.
Behind the door is a bulletin board.  Can you say…. AWKWARD?  I covered it with space themed fabric from Wal-Mart.  I’m not sure what I will put here yet, but I wanted to leave it blank for now so I can use it as a background for the pictures I will take of my students.  I usually don’t put anything too important on this board just because the door is in the way, but I make it work.

Next up, is my computer station.  I have three computers in my classroom.  One of them is on my desk.  The students have access to all the computers in the classroom.  The black storage seats came from Bed, Bath, and Beyond.  I so wanted to make the crate seats that are all over Pinterest,  but I just ran out of time.  That will be next year’s project.

Behind the computers is the “What do I do now that I’m through?”  board.  One of the activities is Boggle.  I got this idea from Pinterest.  You can check it out HERE.  I also post the schedule of the day in this section.

The last thing I will share today is my classroom library.  This is my favorite part of our classroom.  I kinda remodeled it a little so it has a clean and fresh look.  I’m loving the book bin labels that tie in the space theme.

Thanks for sticking with me.  I hope you enjoyed the first part of my classroom tour.  There is still lots to share so I’ll be back soon.
Take care.

  3. I love your classroom! I especially love that you included a picture of yourself when you were in school. Kids love that! For some reason, they think we (teachers) were never kids before lol!
